  • cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • teaspoon dried basil
  • teaspoon onion powder
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • teaspoon kosher salt
  • teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat broiler.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, oregano, basil, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Roll mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  4. Brown meatballs in a skillet over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes; drain excess grease.
  5. Add marinara sauce to the skillet and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Split and butter sub rolls; toast under the broiler until golden brown.
  7. Assemble subs by adding half the mozzarella to each roll, five meatballs per roll, then top with remaining cheese.
  8. Broil assembled subs until cheese is melted and bubbly.
