  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • cup granulated sugar
  • cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup caramel chips
  • Optional: cup chocolate chips
  • tsp flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition; then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combinedavoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in caramel chips and optional chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt before baking.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers appear slightly underbaked.
  10. Allow cooling on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
