  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and spices until combined.
  3. In another bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla; stir until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form a thick batter; pour into an 8-inch casserole dish.
  5. Mix together the toppings of granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle evenly over the batter.
  6. Carefully pour hot water over the entire mixture without stirring.
