  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 large egg (for pumpkin layer)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325F (170C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and grease lightly.
  2. Melt butter and dark chocolate over low heat until smooth. Remove from heat and mix in sugar.
  3. Allow to cool slightly before adding whisked eggs one at a time.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, and salt; fold into chocolate mixture.
  5. Pour brownie batter into prepared pan and smooth out.
  6. In another bowl, whisk together pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, egg, brown sugar, spices, and cornstarch. Pour over brownie base.
  7. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before slicing.
