  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups peanut butter
  • 9 cups powdered sugar
  • 67 tbsp water or milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 6 Reeses, chopped
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 8 Reeses, cut in half
  • Crumble Reeses

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and eggs until smooth.
  4. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients; mix on low speed until combined. Slowly incorporate hot water.
  5. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for about 22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Frost with peanut butter frosting once cooled.
