  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. In a bowl, soak panko breadcrumbs in milk until fully absorbed.
  3. In a saut pan, melt butter and cook onions until fragrant; add minced garlic and cook briefly.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, onions, and garlic. Mix gently without overworking the meat.
  5. Shape into a loaf on the prepared baking sheet and score the top with a knife.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes; meanwhile mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard for the topping.
  7. After 40 minutes, spread the sauce over meatloaf and bake until internal temperature reaches 160F (about another 30-35 minutes).
