  • 1 cups pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rum
  • teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180F (82C) to keep the dumplings warm.
  2. In a large pot, combine water, maple syrup, rum, and salt; bring to a boil.
  3. In a food processor, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add cold butter and pulse until coarse.
  4. Stir in buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough into boiling sauce; cover and simmer for about 10 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Serve warm with extra maple syrup, ice cream, or whipped cream.
