  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 2/3 cup sour cream (room temperature)
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 4 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • Festive sprinkles and green sanding sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C) and prepare a baking sheet by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together buttermilk, sour cream, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla until well combined. Gradually add the yellow cake mix and mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely.
  4. For the whipped cream filling, whip heavy cream until soft peaks form; add vanilla and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
  5. Cut the cooled cake horizontally into two layers, spread the whipped cream filling on one layer, then place the second layer on top.
  6. For the frosting, melt white chocolate chips with heavy cream over low heat until smooth; let cool slightly before mixing with softened butter and powdered sugar until fluffy.
  7. Frost the assembled cake with white chocolate buttercream and decorate with green sanding sugar and sprinkles.
