Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups hot cooked white or brown rice
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain excess fat and add minced garlic; sauté for 30-60 seconds.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Stir in ginger, red pepper flakes, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Pour the sauce over the browned beef in the skillet. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low, cover, and cook for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Divide hot cooked rice among serving bowls and top with the glazed beef mixture.
  5. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
