  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water (110F)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp softened butter
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp dried Italian herbs
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until shaggy.
  3. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 68 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let rise in an oiled bowl covered with a towel for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Prepare herb butter by mixing softened butter with garlic and herbs.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread herb butter evenly, sprinkle cheeses on top.
  7. Roll the dough tightly from one side into a log shape, pinch seam closed.
  8. Place seam-side down in a greased pan; let rise again for about 3045 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 375F and bake for 3035 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool before slicing to maintain texture.
