  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine light brown sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, and baking powder.
  3. Add melted butter, egg, and grated carrots; mix until just combined.
  4. In another bowl, blend softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and egg yolk until smooth.
  5. Pour half of the carrot batter into the prepared dish, dollop with cream cheese mixture, then top with remaining batter. Swirl gently.
