  • 4 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 3 1/2 cups + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup whole or 2% milk (warmed to 110F)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1 beaten egg (for brushing the tops)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for finishing)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic (for finishing)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for finishing)
  • flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (180C). Lightly butter a 9×13 baking pan.
  2. In a small pot, melt the butter and saut the minced garlic until fragrant. Set aside to cool.
  3. In a stand mixing bowl, combine flour, parsley, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  4. Add warmed milk, egg, and cooled garlic butter mixture to the dry ingredients. Knead on low speed for about 1012 minutes until smooth.
  5. Cut the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each into a ball. Place in the prepared pan and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 12 hours).
  6. Brush tops with beaten egg wash and bake for 2030 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Prepare additional garlic butter while baking; brush on warm rolls before serving.
