  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter (plus extra for greasing)
  • 6 tbsp sugar (plus 2 tbsp for sprinkling)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup ground almonds
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract
  • 4 to 5 large pears

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and salt until fluffy. Mix in ground almonds and then add eggs one at a time along with almond extract.
  3. Spread the almond mixture evenly in the prepared dish.
  4. Peel, core, and quarter pears; arrange them over the almond mixture.
  5. Sprinkle remaining sugar on top and bake for about 40 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving; dust with powdered sugar if desired.
