  • For the filling: 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • For the frosting: 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, water, and yeast in a bowl; let sit until foamy (5 min).
  2. Mix in sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt until a dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes; place in a greased bowl to rise for an hour.
  5. Prepare filling by mixing softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle; spread filling evenly over it.
  7. Roll tightly into a log and slice into pieces; place on lined baking sheet.
  8. Cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes; preheat oven to 350F.
  9. Bake for approximately 25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Make frosting by mixing cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract until smooth; drizzle over warm rolls.
