  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted & divided)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dark cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F and grease an 8×8 baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix light brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon to prepare the filling.
  3. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Create a well and add buttermilk with melted butter; stir until soft dough forms.
  4. Knead gently on a floured surface until incorporated and roll into a rectangle (10×14 inches).
  5. Spread melted butter over dough and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Roll tightly from the shorter side and slice into nine equal pieces.
  7. Place in greased pan, drizzle with remaining melted butter, and bake for 2022 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow cooling slightly before frosting with a mix of cream cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and cocoa.
