  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 2 tablespoons Shaoxing wine or dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar or white sugar
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons ginger, minced

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the beef against the grain and marinate it with soy sauce, peanut oil, and cornstarch for about 10 minutes.
  2. While the beef marinates, combine all sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Steam the broccoli in a nonstick skillet until tender, about one minute. Remove from skillet.
  4. Heat peanut oil in the skillet over high heat and cook the marinated beef in a single layer until browned. Flip briefly to cook on both sides.
  5. Add minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, stirring until fragrant.
  6. Return steamed broccoli to the skillet, pour in the sauce, and cook until thickened. Serve immediately.
