  • 12 thick-cut slices brioche bread
  • 5 apples (Gala and Granny Smith), peeled and diced
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon and apple pie spice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease a baking pan with non-stick cooking spray and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter, then add flour and apple pie spice. Stir in brown sugar, diced apples, and water; cook until apples are soft.
  3. In the same saucepan (off heat), combine milk, heavy cream, melted butter, sugars, salt, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and eggs. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Cut the brioche into cubes and layer one-third in the prepared pan followed by one-third of the apple filling. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  5. Pour custard over layers; bake for 3540 minutes until golden brown.
