  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 10 drops of red food coloring or 1/4 tsp of coloring gel
  • 10 drops of blue food coloring or 1/4 tsp of coloring gel
  • 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, plus more if needed

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until smooth. Add eggs and mix well.
  2. Sift in flour, baking powder, and salt; combine until thick and sticky dough forms. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  3. Preheat oven to 350F (175C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  4. Divide chilled dough into three portions; color one red, one blue, and leave one plain.
  5. Combine small amounts of each colored dough to form balls; roll in powdered sugar until coated.
  6. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until tops are crackled but centers remain soft. Cool on wire racks.
