Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly. Stir in ice water until combined. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit into a 9-inch pie pan, pricking holes in the bottom to prevent bubbling.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and eggs until smooth. Stir in vanilla, then add pecans and chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the filling into the prepared crust and bake for about 50–60 minutes until set with a slight jiggle in the center.
  6. Cool on a wire rack for at least two hours before slicing.
