  • ½ cup water
  • 80 g unsalted butter
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 150 g all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups milk (for filling)
  • 2 eggs (for filling)
  • ⅔ cup sugar (for filling)
  • 50 g cornstarch
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • Powdered sugar (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the choux pastry by boiling milk, water, butter, salt, and sugar in a saucepan. Stir in flour until a dough forms.
  2. Allow it to cool slightly before mixing in eggs one at a time until smooth.
  3. Spread half the pastry onto a lined baking sheet and bake at 200°C (392°F) for 30–35 minutes until golden.
  4. For the cream filling, heat milk in a saucepan while whisking eggs, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla together. Gradually combine hot milk with the egg mixture and cook until thickened.
  5. Assemble by layering one choux pastry layer with cream filling on top and finishing with the second layer of pastry. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
